Hi!
Today’s post is from a tract that I wrote last year. This is slightly different from our Monday and Thursday talks……
Open the Door! ….Please!
Have you ever heard the door bell ring or someone knocked at the door and you did not answer? It may have been a meter reader, an annoying salesperson, a bill collector, a young person selling candy for their school, or someone who stopped by unannounced. Whoever it was, you just did not answer.
There are many reasons why we keep doors closed or why we even develop them. Perhaps someone who you trusted betrayed you; or someone who you made a lifelong commitment with walked away from you and never looked back. Perhaps you loss, not one, not two, but three or more loved ones. Perhaps rejection met you because of your intelligence, your lack of intelligence, your lack of money, your poor credit, your great financial status or even for your beauty or handsomeness. Perhaps you have pushed for a very long time and your break through still hasn’t come.
You may even be living where there are no doors for privacy. ….Whatever the cause of your adverse situation, you have learned how to put up mental doors of protection to dull the right now pain, or to avoid future pain, rejection and disappointment. And in putting up these doors, you have managed to block out everyone. You have made it up in your mind that you WILL NOT allow anyone or anything to EVER get the chance to rip your heart again.
Perhaps you are that person who had to work your way to get to where you are without the help of others. …And you have concluded that it was “You” alone who created your destiny. Well your tenacity deserves commending. But with all this success, is there still a tugging at your heart that something is missing? is your wealthy place empty? Do you go through each day, laughing or smiling with people yet masking the tears?
Can you relate to any of the above scenarios? Is your heart closed for any reason to avoid becoming vulnerable to heartache, having to forgive or to accept help? If that is you, please know that God wants to heal you from the pain. He wants to free you. God wants to replace those memories of disappointment and replace that emptiness with His love, His joy, and His peace.
People may knock at your door for so long, and quit too easily. But Jesus stands at the door of your heart knocking now, and He does not get tired like others who walk away before you can get it together. All you have to do is let Him in.
My brother or my sister, open the door of your heart and let Jesus come in and sup with you. He wants to become your friend that sticks closer than a brother. Open the door to God’s love; to God’s peace; to God’s joy.
